Maury County — 8-Visit Annual Plan

Lawn Care Plan in Columbia

Middle Tennessee's only UT Certified lawn treatment specialists. 8 visits a year, 4 fungicide rounds included, zero surprise upsells.

Why Columbia

The treatment plan built for your ground

Columbia is home base — a mix of old-money estates around the historic square and new-construction subdivisions with the same subsoil and gravel issues you see in Spring Hill, where fescue fights gravel-contaminated soil along hardscapes every summer.

Here in Columbia, the frustrating part of hiring lawn care isn't just the cost. It's getting a bill that's a surprise every time, and finding out too late that the "basic plan" you chose skipped the one thing, like preventative fungicide, that keeps your fescue alive through our humid summers. You're stuck paying more to fix the damage or watching your investment die.

You see it in yards across Columbia, from the older estates near Polk's home to the newer subdivisions off Nashville Highway. By late June, a lawn that was green in spring starts developing circular brown spots that spread. That’s brown patch, a disease that thrives when nighttime temperatures stay high and our humidity keeps the grass wet. Most national plans don't include fungicide treatments; they wait for the disease to show up so they can charge you a premium to try and cure it. I include preventative fungicide applications, starting in May, as a standard part of every service plan. This proactive approach protects your lawn before the stress of our summer hits, which is especially critical now with the approved water rate increases. A healthy, disease-resistant lawn needs less irrigation, saving you money.

The Compounding Science of Care

My service isn't just eight visits. It’s a compounding program where each treatment builds on the last. What we do in the fall, like proper fertilization in neighborhoods like Hampshire or Westbury, directly determines how well your turf withstands heat and drought the following summer. You’re paying for a year-round strategy based on thousands of local soil samples, not a reactive list of tasks. This science is why I don't offer tiered plans. Every Columbia customer gets the same standard of care, which includes grub control and those critical fungicide applications, because skipping them only guarantees problems.

Straightforward, Predictable Billing

When I was learning this business, the most common complaint I heard from customers wasn't about weeds; it was, "How much is my bill going to be this time?" The old model of line-item invoices that change every visit is a headache. I charge one flat monthly rate. This makes your lawn care easy to budget for, and it gives me steady cash flow to plan for the year. It also includes free service calls if you have a concern between visits, though you'll rarely need them because we prevent most issues. My pricing is based strictly on your treatable grass area and terrain, not your zip code. A 5,000 square foot lawn in E.A. Cox Middle School area costs the same as one in Fountainview.

What You're Really Comparing

When you look at other quotes, compare what's included, not just the sticker price. A cheaper plan often excludes the fungicide your lawn needs, and then charges you over six hundred dollars per application as an add-on after the disease appears. Others include lime, which our local soil data consistently shows is unnecessary. My plan includes what a Middle Tennessee lawn actually needs to thrive long-term. The result is a consistent, high-quality lawn that deepens its root system each year, better equipped for Mule Day parades and summer cookouts alike, without surprise upsells or failed promises.

Why your Columbia lawn needs the full plan

Middle Tennessee's climate creates a unique set of challenges for fescue lawns. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F with high humidity, creating ideal conditions for brown patch fungus and crabgrass invasion. The heavy clay soils common throughout Maury and Williamson counties compact easily, restricting root growth and water absorption. Our service plan addresses every one of these regional challenges with treatments specifically timed for the Middle Tennessee growing season.

What's Included for Columbia Customers

  • 8 all-inclusive treatment visits per year (no surprise upsells)
  • 4 summer fungicide treatments (May-August, every 28 days)
  • Acelepryn bee-safe insecticide in June (grubs & armyworms)
  • Spring & Fall granular nitrogen + liquid weed control
  • Bermuda grass suppression included in 6 services
  • Dallisgrass and Johnsongrass control included
  • Monthly payment plan available (no extra fees)
  • One standard of care for all customers

Local Expertise

Why Columbia lawns are unique

Columbia is our home base. The town splits cleanly between old-money estates around the historic square — some of them the rare Middle Tennessee lots with genuinely low soil pH — and the newer construction on the south and east sides, which carries the same graded-subsoil and gravel issues you see in Spring Hill. Two golf courses and the native topography in between mean soil conditions shift yard to yard on the same street.

That variability is exactly why we soil-test every new customer at signup instead of applying the same nitrogen rate across the board. A mature fescue estate near the Polk Ancestral Home needs far less nitrogen than a new build off Nashville Highway, and Middle Tennessee's 28-day fungicide window during humidity season doesn't care which one you're standing on.

What's Actually Included

Comprehensive Coverage — What Your Columbia Plan Actually Includes

Calling this "four services" would undersell it. Your Columbia plan covers every category of threat a Middle Tennessee lawn faces — timed across 8 visits because that's what the transition zone demands.

  • Pre-emergent: summer annuals blocked in February/March, winter annuals blocked in September/October
  • Post-emergent herbicide matched to what's visible — different chemistry for annuals vs perennials, different rates for different temperatures
  • Summer perennials suppressed: Johnson grass, dallisgrass, common bermuda, wild violets, nutsedge
  • 4-round fungicide program on 28-day cycle: brown patch, dollar spot, pythium blight, leaf spot
  • Insect coverage standard: grubs, armyworms, chinch bugs — no separate upsell
  • Slow-release, foliar liquid, and instant-release fertilizer applied at different points in the year — timed to what the lawn needs
  • Soil-test-customized inputs — ammonium sulfate where sulfur is low, urea where nitrogen leaches, no phosphorus where it's not needed

Quick Nav

Every Columbia lawn gets the same comprehensive coverage — but with inputs and rates tuned to YOUR soil test. What changes is the chemistry selection, not the level of care.

Your 8-Visit Annual Plan

Your Columbia lawn follows this 8-visit rhythm

Every visit is timed to Middle Tennessee's climate using historical weather data, not a generic calendar.

Early SpringVisit 1

February – early March

Pre-emergent pass 1 + granular spring fertilizer + winter weed cleanup

You'll see: Pre-emergent pass 1 locks the summer-weed gate. Granular spring fertilizer wakes the fescue without pushing too hard — we save the heavy nitrogen for fall where it matters most. Any leftover winter weeds get cleaned up.

SpringVisit 2

Late March – April

Pre-emergent booster (liquid) + granular fertilizer + post-emergent spot treatment

You'll see: Pre-emergent booster (liquid) backs up the first pass through the critical March 15th emergence window. Granular fertilizer continues the measured spring push. Any early summer annuals that broke through get post-emergent spot treatment.

SpringVisit 3

May

Fungicide round 1 (propiconazole) + summer weed control

You'll see: Propiconazole suppresses brown patch heading into the fungal pressure window AND hits Bermuda, wild violets, and early dallisgrass invasion. Summer annual weed control (crabgrass, goosegrass, nutsedge) rides along.

SummerVisit 4

June

Fungicide round 2 (28-day cycle) + perennial grassy weed suppression

You'll see: The 28-day cycle continues because Middle TN dew keeps turf wet 12 hours a day. Perennial grassy weeds — Johnson grass, dallisgrass, common bermuda — get weakened while they're actively growing in the heat.

SummerVisit 5

July

Fungicide round 3 + foliar liquid fertilizer (iron + peptides) + grub and armyworm watch

You'll see: Peak dew plus heat means peak disease pressure. A foliar-applied liquid fertilizer — chelated iron for color without forcing growth, peptides for stress recovery, a touch of slow-delivery nitrogen. Grub and armyworm activity monitored. Protection is included standard, not an add-on.

SummerVisit 6

August

Fungicide round 4 + foliar liquid fertilizer + seeding quotes issued

You'll see: Last scheduled fungicide round of the summer. Foliar liquid fertilizer (iron + peptides + touch of N) keeps color through the worst stress window. Seeding quotes go out to fall customers. Common Bermuda invasion gets suppression treatment.

FallVisit 7

September – October

100% slow-release fall fertilizer + seed-safe weed control; seeding visit if signed up

You'll see: 100% slow-release fall fertilizer — this is the visit that sets up next year. Seed-safe pre- and post-emergent weed control. Poa annua control starts here — hit early before it overwinters and sets seed. If you signed up for core aeration + overseeding, that work happens on this visit with gold-tag-certified turf-type tall fescue.

WinterVisit 8

November – December

Instant-release fall fertilizer + winter-annual weed kill

You'll see: Instant-release fall fertilizer — carbohydrates go into the root system before dormancy, not top-growth. Winter annuals (chickweed, henbit, hairy bittercress) eliminated before they set seed. This is the real kill shot on overwintering weeds.

Lawn Care Plan in Columbia — FAQ

Why are fungicides included in your plan when other companies charge extra for them?

In Columbia's climate, skipping preventative fungicide is a guarantee your fescue will develop brown patch or dollar spot. I believe in fixing the problem before you see it. Other companies use the cheaper plan as a hook, then upsell the cure after your lawn is damaged, which costs you more and stresses the grass.

My lawn near Graymere Country Club is always thin and struggles. What's different about your approach?

Many programs just feed the grass you have. My service compounds results over seasons. The fall treatments are an investment in next year's root system and density. We build a lawn that can compete with tree roots and shade, which is common in Columbia's older, established neighborhoods, so it enters the summer stronger.

Is a monthly payment really better than paying per application?

Yes, for both of us. You get predictable billing with no surprises, which I found was a major pain point for homeowners. For me, it provides stable cash flow to run the business year-round, even in January when we're not actively treating lawns but are planning for your spring.

How does your service handle the new water rate increases in Columbia?

Directly. A healthier lawn has deeper roots and better drought tolerance from our compounding program, meaning it requires less water. By preventing disease and building strong turf, we help your lawn survive with less irrigation, which softens the impact of those rising utility costs on your wallet.
