About Mr. Lawn Care
Middle Tennessee's dedicated lawn treatment specialists — not a mowing company, not a landscaper, and not a national franchise. We are local experts who focus exclusively on the science of lawn health.
Our Story
Mr. Lawn Care was founded with a simple belief: Middle Tennessee homeowners deserve a lawn care provider who actually understands the science behind a healthy lawn. Too many companies apply generic, one-size-fits-all programs designed for climates that look nothing like what we have here in the I-65 corridor.
AJ grew up in Middle Tennessee — Maury County soil is his classroom. After years of watching national chains and under-qualified operators damage local lawns with improper treatments, he launched Mr. Lawn Care to bring genuine expertise to the communities along the I-65 corridor.
Based in Columbia, TN — the heart of Maury County — we serve homeowners from Pulaski in the south to Belle Meade in the north. Every treatment protocol we use is designed specifically for Middle Tennessee's heavy clay soils, subtropical humidity, and cool-season tall fescue. We apply the right product, at the right rate, at the right time — every time.

The Team in Action
AJ and Kirkland operate professional ride-on application equipment — the same technology used by the best lawn care companies in the country.

Kirkland running the Stinger Gateway ride-on applicator at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital — simultaneous granular fertilizer and liquid weed control in a single pass.

Professional-grade equipment means precise, even coverage — no striping, no missed spots, no hand-held spreader guesswork.

View on NextdoorIs your current lawn care company actually licensed to do this?
In Tennessee, applying weed control, fungicide, or any horticultural chemistry for hire requires a state license — one that requires either a four-year horticulture degree or a documented apprenticeship under a licensed applicator, followed by passing a state exam. Landscape companies and mowing crews routinely apply chemistry as part of their service. Most do not hold the required license. The customer-facing assumption is that a "landscaper" is licensed for everything. The legal reality is usually: licensed for mowing and planting. Not for chemistry.
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture publishes a public charter registry where anyone can verify any company's credentials. Look us up. Then look up your landscaper or your current lawn care company. If they are not in the registry, they are not legally applying chemistry to your property.

Treatment-only is an untapped niche in Middle Tennessee. Most homeowners already have someone to mow — they need someone who understands the science.
Treatment-Only Is a Specialty, Not a Limitation
AJ doesn't mow lawns — not because he can't, but because the science of treatments is a completely different discipline. Modes of action, chemistry selection, application timing, fungal disease cycles, soil pH, nitrogen release curves — none of that lives in a mowing truck. By specializing exclusively in treatments, we deliver better outcomes than any company splitting its attention across a dozen service lines.
Local Knowledge That National Chains Simply Don't Have
Middle Tennessee is a transition zone — genuine winter and genuine summer, with subtropical humidity in between. Your lawn sits wet up to 12 hours a day from dew alone, even without rain. Nighttime temperatures over 75°F combined with that constant moisture create a perfect fungal breeding environment. In Ohio, you can have a healthy lawn on four treatments a year. In Middle Tennessee, that program will leave you reseeding every season. We know this because we live here, treat lawns here, and have the soil test data to back it up.
A Calibrated Program — One Standard of Care for Every Customer
AJ built Mr. Lawn Care because he got tired of watching operators offer a lower standard of care than lawns actually need. Not offering fungicides in Middle Tennessee doesn't save money — it ensures the lawn will die. It ensures unhappy customers. So instead of tiered plans that strip out the critical services, we built one comprehensive program that every customer gets. We bring more products to every service than any one lawn needs, then adjust rates on the fly based on what's in front of us.
The Barista Standard: Trust the Expert
You don't tell the barista what grind setting to use, what temperature to brew at, or how long to pre-infuse your espresso shot. You leave it up to them and trust the expertise. Lawn care works the same way. What you do in the fall affects what happens the following summer. That's how we treat our turf — compounding results season over season, not just checking a box on today's visit.
Service Area
We serve 22 towns along the I-65 corridor in Middle Tennessee. Based in Columbia, TN — and priced the same whether you're in Pulaski or Belle Meade.
