Local Expertise
Why CHERRY GROVE lawns are unique
If you live in Cherry Grove, you've likely seen lawns that start strong in spring but thin out and struggle by mid-summer. Here’s why that happens specifically for us, and how my service plan fixes it.
The new construction here in Thompson's Station, especially in neighborhoods like Cherry Grove, creates a unique challenge for your tall fescue. The gravel mixed into the topsoil during building does two things: it prevents deep rooting and raises soil temperature. Come June, when our subtropical humidity kicks in, that shallow, hot soil is a double-whammy. Your grass is already stressed, then it sits in dew for 12 hours a night. That’s the perfect recipe for diseases like brown patch and dollar spot to take hold. At the same time, this environment lets weeds like dallisgrass, which often arrives in construction straw, and common Bermuda thrive while your fescue suffers. Most lawn companies offer a basic plan that skips the critical preventative fungicide treatments, waiting for the damage to show so they can upsell you a cure. That’s a losing strategy for a Cherry Grove lawn. My approach is different. I include preventative fungicide applications, starting in May, as a standard part of my 8-visit annual plan. It’s not an extra; it’s essential care for our climate. You’re also getting targeted weed control for invaders like yellow nutsedge and crabgrass, plus grub prevention, all in one flat monthly rate. This consistency builds compounding results. What I do in the fall, like aeration and seeding, is an investment in your lawn’s density for the following summer, helping it better compete against weeds and handle the heat. My service is built for the realities of living in Thompson's Station, giving your property in Cherry Grove the complete, preventative care it actually needs to look good year-round, not just in April.

What's Actually Included
Comprehensive Coverage — What Your CHERRY GROVE Plan Actually Includes
Calling this "four services" would undersell it. Your CHERRY GROVE plan covers every category of threat a Middle Tennessee lawn faces — timed across 8 visits because that's what the transition zone demands.
- Pre-emergent: summer annuals blocked in February/March, winter annuals blocked in September/October
- Post-emergent herbicide matched to what's visible — different chemistry for annuals vs perennials, different rates for different temperatures
- Summer perennials suppressed: Johnson grass, dallisgrass, common bermuda, wild violets, nutsedge
- 4-round fungicide program on 28-day cycle: brown patch, dollar spot, pythium blight, leaf spot
- Insect coverage standard: grubs, armyworms, chinch bugs — no separate upsell
- Slow-release, foliar liquid, and instant-release fertilizer applied at different points in the year — timed to what the lawn needs
- Soil-test-customized inputs — ammonium sulfate where sulfur is low, urea where nitrogen leaches, no phosphorus where it's not needed
Quick Nav
Every CHERRY GROVE lawn gets the same comprehensive coverage — but with inputs and rates tuned to YOUR soil test. What changes is the chemistry selection, not the level of care.
Your 8-Visit Annual Plan
Your CHERRY GROVE lawn follows this 8-visit rhythm
Every visit is timed to Middle Tennessee's climate using historical weather data, not a generic calendar.
February – early March
Pre-emergent pass 1 + granular spring fertilizer + winter weed cleanup
You'll see: Pre-emergent pass 1 locks the summer-weed gate. Granular spring fertilizer wakes the fescue without pushing too hard — we save the heavy nitrogen for fall where it matters most. Any leftover winter weeds get cleaned up.
Late March – April
Pre-emergent booster (liquid) + granular fertilizer + post-emergent spot treatment
You'll see: Pre-emergent booster (liquid) backs up the first pass through the critical March 15th emergence window. Granular fertilizer continues the measured spring push. Any early summer annuals that broke through get post-emergent spot treatment.
May
Fungicide round 1 (propiconazole) + summer weed control
You'll see: Propiconazole suppresses brown patch heading into the fungal pressure window AND hits Bermuda, wild violets, and early dallisgrass invasion. Summer annual weed control (crabgrass, goosegrass, nutsedge) rides along.
June
Fungicide round 2 (28-day cycle) + perennial grassy weed suppression
You'll see: The 28-day cycle continues because Middle TN dew keeps turf wet 12 hours a day. Perennial grassy weeds — Johnson grass, dallisgrass, common bermuda — get weakened while they're actively growing in the heat.
July
Fungicide round 3 + foliar liquid fertilizer (iron + peptides) + grub and armyworm watch
You'll see: Peak dew plus heat means peak disease pressure. A foliar-applied liquid fertilizer — chelated iron for color without forcing growth, peptides for stress recovery, a touch of slow-delivery nitrogen. Grub and armyworm activity monitored. Protection is included standard, not an add-on.
August
Fungicide round 4 + foliar liquid fertilizer + seeding quotes issued
You'll see: Last scheduled fungicide round of the summer. Foliar liquid fertilizer (iron + peptides + touch of N) keeps color through the worst stress window. Seeding quotes go out to fall customers. Common Bermuda invasion gets suppression treatment.
September – October
100% slow-release fall fertilizer + seed-safe weed control; seeding visit if signed up
You'll see: 100% slow-release fall fertilizer — this is the visit that sets up next year. Seed-safe pre- and post-emergent weed control. Poa annua control starts here — hit early before it overwinters and sets seed. If you signed up for core aeration + overseeding, that work happens on this visit with gold-tag-certified turf-type tall fescue.
November – December
Instant-release fall fertilizer + winter-annual weed kill
You'll see: Instant-release fall fertilizer — carbohydrates go into the root system before dormancy, not top-growth. Winter annuals (chickweed, henbit, hairy bittercress) eliminated before they set seed. This is the real kill shot on overwintering weeds.
