The reality in Franklin is usually something much more aggressive: fungal disease. Most of my neighbors see these dead spots and instinctively water more to combat the heat. I start my fungicide applications in May, a full month before the damage typically starts in June. By keeping the disease population under control before it takes hold, your grass can focus its energy on surviving the Franklin heat and foot traffic instead of fighting off a pathogen.
